cinema, thurs 27th january – the magnificent seven

The votes are in from our recent poll and the winner is…….The Magnificent Seven original classic movie from 1960.

Directed by John Sturges with a screenplay by William Roberts, the movie is a remake – in an Old West–style – of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai. The ensemble cast includes Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, James Coburn, and Horst Buchholz as a group of seven gunfighters, and Eli Wallach as their main antagonist.

The film tells the story of a bandit who terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for gunmen to defend them. They end up with seven, each of whom comes for a different reason. They must prepare the town to repulse an army of thirty bandits who will arrive wanting food.

The film will start in our upstairs room from 8pm and it’s free entry.
